We kicked off Menlo Abroad Malaysia with an interactive get-to-know-you session this morning with our fifteen student participants and two adult chaperones. After some icebreakers, we spent some time working through the details of our itinerary for the trip, sharing our thoughts about the adventures that await, and writing letters to our future selves based on how students were thinking about their journeys at this point in time. Through collaboration, students took the lead on discussing and setting shared group agreements that we would all follow to ensure that the experience is a positive and enriching one for all, both our group as well as those in our host country.

After a few hours of wrapping up things at home, we reached SFO this evening, said our farewells to family and friends, checked in, and made it to our gate.

We are gearing up for our flight to Kuala Lumpur via Singapore in a few hours and can’t wait to share more once we get there!
